Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 April 2026

This policy explains what information Beetroot Arcade collects about you, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. It covers both the Beetroot Arcade mobile app and this website.

1. Who we are

Beetroot Arcade (“Beetroot Arcade”, “we”, “our”, “us”) is a trading name of Andrew Misselbrook, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the Beetroot Arcade app and website.

Correspondence address: 13 Virginia Close, Amesbury, SP4 7QR
Contact email: andrew@beetrootarcade.co.uk

2. Summary

The short version:

  • Beetroot Arcade does not require an account. Your progress, streak, missions and high scores are stored locally on your device.
  • We don’t run our own servers that hold your personal data.
  • In-app purchases are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) — we never see your payment details.
  • Optional Game Center features send scores to Apple using a Game Center identifier we can’t reverse.
  • Optional rewarded adverts are served by Google AdMob — you can opt out of personalised ads at any time.
  • Our website uses privacy-friendly Vercel Analytics, which does not set tracking cookies.

3. Information we collect

Information stored only on your device:your daily credit balance, streak, missions progress, high scores, settings, onboarding status, and purchase / subscription flags. This data lives in your device’s local app storage and is not transmitted to us.

Information handled by Apple Game Center (iOS, if you enable it): a Game Center player ID and the scores you submit to our public leaderboards. Apple anonymises your Game Center identity — we cannot link it to your Apple ID, email, or real name. Use of Game Center is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Information handled by Apple / Google for purchases: if you buy credit packs, a Monthly Pass, or the Lifetime Pass, the transaction is processed by the App Store or Play Store. We receive a purchase receipt that tells us the product you bought and whether it was successful — not your payment card or billing address.

Information collected by Google AdMob(only if you choose to watch a rewarded advert): this may include your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, approximate location, device model, OS version, and interactions with the advert. AdMob uses this to serve adverts and measure performance. See Google’s privacy policy and AdMob’s data disclosure.

Website analytics: when you visit beetrootarcade.co.uk we use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and performance metrics using a hashed identifier generated from your IP and user agent. It does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and the hash is rotated daily.

Support emails: if you email us we will see your email address and whatever you put in the message, so we can reply.

4. How we use it & our legal basis (UK GDPR)

  • Running the app — to provide daily credits, save your progress, and let you play. Legal basis: performance of a contract (these Terms of Use).
  • Processing purchases — to fulfil items you have bought. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • Game Center leaderboards — to show high scores to other players. Legal basis: your consent (by signing into Game Center on your device).
  • Rewarded adverts — to award you extra credits in exchange for watching an advert. Legal basis: your consent, collected through the consent prompt shown before ads load.
  • Website analytics — to understand aggregate traffic and keep the site fast. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in maintaining a working website, balanced against a privacy-friendly, cookieless tool.
  • Replying to you — if you contact us. Legal basis: legitimate interests in running a customer support service.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers listed below, strictly for the purposes above:

  • Apple — App Store purchases, receipt validation, and (optional) Game Center.
  • Google — Play Store purchases (when the Android app ships), Google AdMob for optional rewarded adverts, and Google’s User Messaging Platform for consent.
  • Vercel Inc. — hosts this website and provides Vercel Analytics.
  • Our email provider — delivers emails to and from andrew@beetrootarcade.co.uk.

We may also disclose information where required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights.

6. International transfers

Some of the service providers above (Apple, Google, Vercel) are based in the United States and may process your information outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are protected by the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an equivalent safeguard approved by the Information Commissioner’s Office.

7. How long we keep it

  • Local app data — for as long as you keep the app installed. Uninstalling the app, or using the “Wipe Everything” developer option, removes it.
  • Apple / Google purchase receipts — retained by Apple / Google according to their policies. We keep only the minimum needed to validate entitlements.
  • Game Center scores — retained by Apple for as long as the leaderboard exists.
  • AdMob data — retained by Google according to its own retention schedule.
  • Website analytics — Vercel retains aggregated metrics; raw hashed identifiers rotate daily.
  • Support emails — kept for up to 24 months after the conversation ends.

8. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to delete your data (the “right to erasure”).
  • Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time for anything you previously consented to (e.g. personalised ads).
  • Port your data to another service, where applicable.

Because Beetroot Arcade doesn’t have user accounts, we may not be able to identify “your” local data without your help. For app data, you can erase everything yourself by uninstalling the app or using the developer wipe option. For any request you cannot action yourself, email us at andrew@beetrootarcade.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We’d appreciate the chance to sort it out first, but you don’t have to come to us before going to the ICO.

9. Advertising choices

Before the first rewarded advert loads, Beetroot Arcade shows a consent prompt powered by Google’s User Messaging Platform. You can change your choice at any time from the Profile tab. On iOS you will also be asked for App Tracking Transparency permission — declining this is fine and simply results in non-personalised adverts.

You can reset your device’s advertising identifier in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security or Android Settings › Google › Ads.

10. Children

Beetroot Arcade is rated 4+ / suitable for all ages on the App Store, but in-app purchases and rewarded adverts make it best suited to users aged 13 and over. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before using in-app purchases or watching adverts. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data to us, email andrew@beetrootarcade.co.uk and we will delete it.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Because almost all personal data stays on your device, the most important thing you can do is keep your device secure (device passcode, OS updates, avoiding jailbreaks). No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. If the changes are significant, we’ll highlight them in the app.

13. Contact
