Why “Beetroot”?

The name “Beetroot” started as a running joke — literally. The founder used to go so red during runs that mates called him Beetroot. The name stuck. It felt right for something personal and playful.

Years ago, he built scrappy little games for fun — the kind of projects that never left the hard drive. Beetroot Arcade brings those ideas back, reimagined with modern design and built for today's players.

This isn't a big studio release. It's one person's love letter to the games that started it all — rebuilt with care, designed to feel premium, and shared with anyone who loves a good arcade session.

Questions, answered

  • Yes — the app is free to download and you get a free credit every day. Purchases are optional: credit packs start at £0.99, while the auto-renewing Monthly (£2.99) and Annual (£19.99) Passes provide unlimited play.

  • 3 starter credits to play with straight away, plus your daily credit. Plenty to try a handful of games and see what hooks you.

  • Claim your free credit every day and the reward ramps up: 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, then 5 credits on day 7. Miss a day and the streak resets — simple as that.

  • Credits have no expiry timer and remain available until you spend them. Beetroot Arcade has no conventional user account, so uninstalling the app, resetting your device or clearing its data may remove locally stored credits.

  • Share your personal link, short code or QR code from Profile. When your friend applies it and completes their first game, you both receive 5 credits. Referrers can earn rewards for up to 10 successful friends.

  • No. You can apply one friend or creator code per installation, before completing your first game. The app identifies which type of code you entered and previews the reward before you confirm it.

  • For your first 72 hours after opening Beetroot Arcade, every credit pack includes 50% extra credits at the normal displayed price. The pack and purchase confirmation show the total before you buy.

  • Tickets are a separate prize currency for the in-app cosmetic shop — avatar frames, CRT themes and other cosmetics. You earn them by playing well: every score pays out tickets, with bonuses for personal bests, weekly bests, daily challenges and daily missions. Tickets never unlock plays, and credits never buy cosmetics.

  • There are no forced ads and no ads during gameplay. You can optionally watch a short advert to earn an extra credit — capped at 5 a day, and only if you want to.

  • Yes. Every game has a global leaderboard powered by Apple Game Center, plus 30+ achievements to unlock across the arcade.
